What is the HOME Program?

The HOME Program is a federally funded affordable housing program that helps make housing more accessible for income-qualified households. At Cottage Lane Village, 11 of our 40 apartment homes are designated as HOME Program units and are offered at reduced rental rates. Households interested in these apartments must meet income eligibility requirements and complete an annual income recertification to remain eligible.

How does the program work?

Because these units are subsidized, they are reserved for households that meet specific income requirements set by HUD.
  1. Income Qualification: Total household income must be at or below the program limits listed below.
  2. Ongoing Compliance: To remain eligible, residents must complete an annual income recertification.

What are the income limits?

Cottage Lane Village offers affordable apartment homes through the federal HOME program. This means some apartments are reserved for households whose income falls within specific ranges.

We have two affordable housing options:

  • Low HOME apartments rent for $916/month and are available to households whose annual income falls within the 50% HOME income limits.
  • High HOME apartments rent for $1,060/month and are available to households whose annual income falls within the 60% HOME income limits.

To qualify, your household income must be at or above the minimum income needed to afford the rent and at or below the maximum income allowed for your household size.

Note: These numbers are updated annually. If your income is above these limits, you may still qualify for our standard market-rate units.

​How to Apply

Applying for a HOME unit is a multiple-step process. You must complete the standard lease application and the specialized HOME Program paperwork.

  1. Request the HOME Application from our management team by emailing [email protected] or calling 479-273-7344
  2. Gather Documentation: Provide proof of income (such as pay stubs, tax returns, or benefit letters) for all adult household members.
  3. Submit to Management: Return your completed HOME application and supporting documents to the leasing office.
  4. Complete Standard Screening: Complete the standard online lease application for credit and background screening.
